NormalThe vertebrae are in good alignment, with equal disc spacing, and have a forward curve. There are no visible signs of degeneration or decay. The spine is healthy and normal. Regular chiropractic checkups are recommended. This will ensure early detection and prevention of spinal degeneration. |
Phase 1The spine begins loosing its curve. The spaces between the spinal discs do not look as they should, there is misalignment. This means that the spinal nerves do not have the physical movement they need and will begin to malfunction. Without movement of the spinal joints they will eventually erode causing soft tissue damage, nerve irritation and pain. This problem can still be addressed by chiropractic care. The patient can restore their normal nerve functioning. |
Phase 2This stage features moderate fusing and spurring of the vertebra. There is narrowing of the discs, calcium deposition, bone spurs, and nerve irritation. This occurs with a subluxation that has existed for a long time. Over time the subluxation has inhibited the normal motion to such a degree that it becomes almost irreversible. This stage of spinal degeneration can be slowed or stopped with chiropractic care. |
Phase 3This stage features bone fusion and complete loss of motion of the vertebra or joint. Nerve atrophy, and scar tissue are also occurring. This phase is tragically irreversible. This stage of spinal degeneration can be slowed or stopped with chiropractic care. Don't put off seeing Dr. Swick before it is too late. A patient at this level of degeneration should have sought chiropractic care years earlier, call (315) 655-8008 for your consultation today. |
